How to Become a Mason

The Order of Freemasons is mystic, conveying its lessons through allegory and symbol, and initiatic, bringing its members into the Craft through time honored and solemn rituals, linking through tradition to the distant past.

Initiates submit themselves to learning and prove their mastery of the knowledge through academic papers and Masonic proficiency before advancing in the Craft. To reach the degree of Master is and ancient challenge. He whose heart is pure and spirit loyal will  be rewarded with the secret which can not be spoken.

No member of Prometheus Lodge, or Freemasonry in general, will ever solicit you for membership. Indeed, your joining the Craft must be a decision reached of your own free will and accord.

Should you be desirous of joining Prometheus Lodge No. 851, you ought to seek out and develop relationships with our members , that both you and the Lodge   may become better acquainted with one another.

Two Brothers, with whom you have forged strong relationships with, must  stand forward and sponsor your application to our Lodge.

After the application is received by the lodge, and no objection has been raised, the Worshipful Master will appoint a committee to investigate the applicant. Upon completing their interviews the committee members will report their findings to the lodge and make a recommendation.

Election to the degrees of Freemasonry must be by unanimous vote of the members of our Lodge. When elected for the degrees, a time is scheduled for your initiation as an Entered Apprentice, the first of the three degrees.
